It is an honour for
me to present this limited edition bronze sculpture of the
hands of Serveriano Ballesteros. These hands have been made
by the Malagan sculptor, Juan Soler.
I must admit that it is thanks to Seve that
all my family today practice the magnificent sport of golf.
One never knows what destiny has in store for you. It has
been a while since I met Seve and his family and we remain
very good friends. I have had the opportunity to travel with
him and his team to various countries, sporting and social
events and I have been able to appreciate what Severiano means
to the world, not only on a sporting level but also on a social
level.
When I heard the news of his retirement in
July, I felt that the least a follower of the best European
golf player of all time could do was to give back a little
something for all the joy he´s given us over the years.
Just a happy few will have the opportunity
to be able to have the hands of this golf “maestro”
in our houses or offices, as only 555 copies have been sculpted.
There is no doubt for us golf lovers that it is a valuable
piece that, personally, I hope I can leave this to my children
as a legacy of this sporting genius.
Seve, thanks for what you have done for European
golf and for all the happiness you have given us.
